Background & Problem

Gartner, Inc. is a leading research and advisory company based in Stamford, Connecticut. Founded in 1979, Gartner provides valuable insights, advice, and tools for leaders in IT, finance, human resources, customer service, and supply chain functions. The company offers services in three primary areas: research, consulting, and conferences. Gartner's research division produces in-depth reports and market analyses, helping organizations make informed decisions. Its consulting services provide expert advice tailored to specific business needs, while its conferences gather industry leaders for networking and learning opportunities. With a global presence, Gartner serves clients across various industries, empowering them to achieve their strategic priorities and drive business growth.

Although Gartner covers a range of topics and technologies in depth, clients and associates have a difficult time parsing the insights and presenting them in a valuable manner. The issue stems from a user experience that is not aligned with how clients engage in research. Gartner recognized this issue and initiated a front-end redesign to attempt to alleviate the issues. Despite the team’s best efforts, the redesign did not improve the situation.

Solution & Result

Leveraging my relationship with clients and the sales organization, I explored possible solutions to Gartner’s engagement problems. I collaborated with product, sales, and security to outline a custom internal Google Chrome extension. After completing the initial beta development, more than 150 associates installed the tool to better advise ~1.5K clients.
